The Big Day Out!

Well, as you can read in the last post, I left you with a plaited up Goblin, ready to hit the hacking scene in Deniliquin. The day dawned, and I headed down to Goblin, fingers crossed that he hadn't rubbed his plaites out and was still clean! The finger crossing worked, and he was waiting in the same condition I left him in Saturday. Pheww!
So we headed off to the big township of Deniliquin, 45 min drive from home. I arrived with about 1hr to spare before the first class I was planning on entering started. There were the regular showies all around us, putting false tails and make up on..then there was us. Clean hairy pony, half his winter coat out, no make up and no falsie. Hrmm! :) Anyways I took Goblin for a walk around the area that we would be competing in, and he was fantastic. So relaxed, had a look at the horses being lunged, looked at the bunting, but all he really wanted to do was eat the grass! So we headed back to the float, tied him up and checked that the plaites were still in place.
The day before I had decided not to ride in my leather dressage saddle, as I had been using my synthetic all purpose saddle for Goblin for the past few months and felt most safe in that. If Goblin was going to put on an act I wanted to be secure! So we looked the part...synthetic saddle, white saddle cloth, no make up, half hairy pony but we did have a bling browband! ..lucky it was only a PC show! I kept reminding myself, the aim of the day was an outing for Goblin, not to win the championships! ...although 1 would be nice...
So, with everything set, we headed off to the arena...
So we rode in 3 classes and were sucessful in all 3!
- Novice Ridden Hack 2nd
- Ridden Hack 16h-16.2h 1st
- Rider Class 3rd

Mr Goblin didn't put a hoof out of line all day. By the last class he was getting a bit tired so didn't perform as good as initially. But I could not fault him at all! What a good man! So back to the float we went, tied him up and un plaited. Goblin stood there like a 20yr old school master!
I couldn't believe how good he was! Didn't have a look at anything all day :) Clever boy!
As you can see, Goblin was quite stressed....!

A Good day all round! Our next outing will be in 2 weeks, a local Combined Training day. :)
