Mr Golden Goblin

Mr Golden Goblin, what can I say? He is just a gem of a horse! I am really enjoying working with him and seeing the improvments we have made.
We have been working a lot on building his strength up over show jumps and I can proudly say, we can now canter into a jump, over, and keep cantering, without breaking into trot. Corners are fast developing and we even managed to do a small course, almost completly in canter! I was so proud! I wanted to jump off, give him a hug and put him away! But I also wanted to do it again! We have been using a variety of jumps to train over - verticals, spreads and a combination, and Goblin is more than happy to go over them all. He is such an obliging little man, I just love riding him!
Our flat work is also coming along in leaps and bounds. His trot work is consistantly improving and his canter has developed loads in the past few weeks. I still have my favourite side, that feels like I'm floating on air. Just amazing! But the left side is fast catching up. We have introduced counter shoulder in, and he is picking it up quite fast. In the not too distant future we will be able to tick the shoulder in and counter shoulder in, 'can do' box.
I have taken Goblin out onto our local cross country course recently and just popped him over a few jumps, including logs, hanging rail and a drop. He has taken this all in his stride and is only to happy to do what I ask. We did have a minor disagreement at the drop today, but after going up it a few times he decided it would be ok to go down.
I have a couple of competitions coming up for Goblin - a local gymkhana at the end of August and then a Combined Training day early in September. I think we are ready to take on the locals, then look out world!
