Back To ESB

I thought I had overcome my nerves around Goblin, but infact they were still there. So in a desperate cry for help I called Ness! It just so happened that I was starting holidays the following week, so Goblin, Gamble and I headed back to ESB for some much needed help. There was nothing wrong with Goblin's behaviour, just mine, and I wanted to fix it before he picked up on it and created a big problem.
Although our stay was only short, it was the best 3 days and exactly what I needed. We free jumped Goblin..very very nice! And then I had my first canter on him in the round yard, and it felt great! We then went riding out in the bush and had a canter along one of the trails, perfect! Day 1 had already ticked a few boxes!
Gamble also went out on the trails, which was a nice change for him from arena work. I think he really enjoyed himself. I also rode ESB Irish Rumble, and he has the most amazing trot! Such a lovely horse!
Day 2, saw me mounting and dismounting several times, making sure Goblin stood still, which he did. Then we headed out in the paddock this time, having a pop over some logs. And day 3 we were back out on the trails for another canter before working in the arena and cantering on both legs. I have discovered that we need to carry a whip, he is lacking a lot of forward energy now! But we have a lot to work on and I think we are both a lot happier with each other.
Gamble had a run around the cross country and loved every minute of it! Both the boys travelled really well together, and were quite happy to go back into their paddocks last night!
Huge thank you to Ness for helping us get our confidence back, couldn't have done it with out you :)
